Palakkad, Kerala – Priyanka G, a distinguished alumna of Bishop Sargant School’s 2006 batch, has carved a remarkable path in public service, currently serving as the District Collector of Palakkad district in Kerala. Her journey, marked by dedication, perseverance, and a strong sense of purpose, serves as an inspiration to many, especially on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

Priyanka’s academic journey began at Bishop Sargant School, where she credits the institution for laying a strong foundation and honing her leadership skills. “My time at Bishop Sargant, especially as Pitts house vice-captain in class 9th and school captain in class 10th, instilled in me the values of leadership and responsibility,” she shared. The school’s emphasis on overall development, including sports and cultural activities, also played a crucial role in shaping her personality.

After graduating from Bishop Sargant, Priyanka pursued Electronics and Communication Engineering at MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology. She then worked at UTC Aerospace for over two years before realizing her true calling: civil service. “I quit my job and dedicated myself to preparing for the civil services, a path I felt truly passionate about,” she explained. Her dedication paid off, and in her second attempt, she secured an impressive 84th All India Rank in the 2017 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

Allotted to the Kerala cadre, Priyanka has held several significant positions. She served as the Sub Collector and Sub Divisional Magistrate of Kozhikode from 2019 to 2021, and later as the Director of the Women and Child Development department from 2022 to 2023. Her current role as the District Collector of Palakkad is a testament to her capabilities and commitment to public service.

On International Women’s Day, Priyanka shared a powerful message for women everywhere. “I wish all women that they find their inner purpose to lead a meaningful life,” she said. She highlighted the common struggle of women balancing multiple roles, often at the expense of their own well-being. “Women often strive to excel at home, work, and education, neglecting their own priorities, physical and mental health,” she observed.

Her message for this Women’s Day was one of self-care and empowerment. “This Women’s Day, I want all of us to relax, appreciate ourselves, shower some self-love, prioritize physical and mental health, and move towards a healthier, happier, and more purposeful life,” she urged.

Priyanka G’s journey, from a student at Bishop Sargant School to a distinguished IAS officer, stands as a beacon of inspiration, reminding women that with determination and self-care, they can achieve their dreams and lead fulfilling lives.
